On August 18, the first meeting of the initiative group to establish an industry Association uniting suppliers and buyers of special equipment was successfully held at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre.

The meeting was attended by over 30 top managers from companies including Transstroymekhanizatsiya (part of the NPS Group), Sany, Technoresurs, Road Group, LiuGong, XCMG, Rusbiznesavto, Lonmadi, Quintmadi, BashRent, FN Machines, Cargonomika, DST Ural, Yeletsgidroagregat, Skyboom, DOZ, Transbaza, and NPP SK Most. The session was moderated by Sergey Alexandrov, CEO of Sigma Expo Group. He opened the discussion by highlighting the meeting’s key objective: to identify the market players’ interest, expectations and requirements for the Association’s activities. “Our main asset is the extensive databases of visitors, exhibitors, and market participants. Currently, we leverage them only once a year during exhibitions; for the rest of the year, these resources remain untapped. We aim to establish an independent Association as a dedicated platform that will connect equipment owners, manufacturers, and sellers. Sigma Expo Group will remain fully neutral: we will not own equipment, engage in sales or interfere with any company’s operations. We intend to remain neutral and avoid any conflict of interest—unlike ‘pocket’ associations where one player effectively becomes the dominant voice, while others are only nominally treated as equals.”

A dynamic and inclusive discussion brought all participants into the conversation, resulting in the formulation of the future Association’s key principles.

  1. The market has long needed such a structure, and the initiative to establish it has been unanimously supported by both sides.
  2. The Association should have the support of CTT Expo but should not be an affiliated entity of the exhibition.
  3. Reliable and up‑to‑date statistics are critical for the industry. Sigma Expo Group’s analytical center together with Excavator.Ru — the key specialized platform for special equipment purchases will ensure that Association members have access to all comprehensive data.
  4. The Association should be a trusted, authoritative voice for the industry: standing up for sector interests with regulators and sharing practical, data‑driven takeaways at industry events. All positions must be based on verified member‑reported data and field observations.

“We are truly glad that the initiative to establish this Association comes from Sigma, because historically, it has always served as a platform that unites the industry — bringing together our end customers, our dealers, and, naturally, our competitors. We’ve always engaged in dialogue, so the creation of an Association was, in fact, long overdue. Thank you, Sergey, for this initiative,” noted Mikhail Visloguzov.

It is important to note that even at the first meeting, complex issues were raised: localization, certification, quality of spare parts supply and service, communication challenges between sellers and buyers, and others. This underscores the need for regular industry‑wide dialogues.

Ramin Abaskuliev, CEO of BashRent: “We operate a large fleet of road construction machinery and have our own lowboy trailers and service offerings. After launching my personal blog, I saw how many pressing challenges small and medium‑sized companies face, challenges that cannot be solved. We are not consolidated and lack a unified voice, yet collectively, the SME segment holds a significant share of equipment and business volume. That is why we need an association that can act as a strong platform for dialogue with the government and major market players. I am ready to represent SME interests on this platform and help articulate their concerns, with the hope that the Association will become a real tool enabling us to engage with counterparties, regulators, and other market participants from a stronger position.”

The atmosphere of the meeting and the proactive engagement of the participants fostered an open exchange of views, extending even to organizational matters: the Association’s name, meeting frequency, governance structure, and other key details.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a memorandum upporting the initiative to establish the Association was signed. Sergey Alexandrov outlined the roadmap for the next three months: operations are scheduled to launch in October, with the Association’s first official meeting planned for that month.
